Our Story

Who we are

A family legacy.

Cousins Gabrielle Deculus and Courtney Smith started the New Orleans Zydeco Festival in 2021 to honor their great-grandfather, Creole French musician Alphonse “Bois Sec” Ardoin, and to celebrate the Louisiana Creole culture people around the world have come to love.

The festival bridges the flavors of Southwest and Southeast Louisiana. It exists to celebrate, preserve, and advance Zydeco music and Creole culture through experiences that bring generations together around community, education, and cultural pride.
